A Conceptual map is a scheme of ideas that serves as a tool to organize graphically and simplified concepts and enunciations in order to reinforce a knowledge. In a conceptual map are related by means of graphic connectors concepts and ideas to complement a driving directions generalized idea of what is a principal, the objective of a conceptual map is to achieve the meaning by means of links that are easily analyzed.
A conceptual map summarizes in a simple scheme of ideas a concept, this scheme presents more than ideas, interpretations of which analyzes the foundation of the term. For it to process and make it easy for the spectator to get the general idea of the statements exposed in such order.
The cognitive structure of a conceptual map is used to make it more developed, with the ideas of those who analyze it and interpret it in another way, consciously and explicitly, links the new concepts to others it already possesses.
According, a professor at University designated as the creator of the first conceptual maps, the new concepts are acquired by discovery or by receptive learning. Because most of the learning in schools is receptive, students memorize definitions but fail to acquire the meaning of concepts. The conceptual map, on the other hand, generates an active learning process because it allows to organize the ideas.
